Our offerings encompass both in-house programs managed directly by Stoughton Parks and Recreation, as well as collaborations with other outside partners.   • Rally Cap T-Ball - Ages 4-5

    Step up to the plate with T-Ball - the perfect way to introduce your child to America's favorite pastime! Designed by Little League International, this program offers a fun and focused approach to learning foundational skills and techniques. All equipment is provided, but players should bring their own glove. Practice/Game times are either at 2:45pm or 3:45pm on Sundays. Times will rotate between teams and a schedule will be provided prior to the start date. We're also seeking volunteer coaches, with detailed weekly practice plans created by Little League International to ensure a seamless and easy-to-follow coaching experience. The first four meetings are practices, while the last two are fun scrimmage games. Sign up now and help your child hit a home run in life!

    Stoughton Baseball is the umbrella organization that helps to coordinate information about the variety of baseball programs for children living in the Stoughton Area School District.

    The primary goal of Stoughton Baseball is to provide area children an opportunity to play and enjoy baseball in a positive, safe environment. Ultimately, we hope to advance your players skill level and send well-rounded players to the Stoughton High School Program.

    Stoughton Area Baseball Association (SABA):

    Stoughton Area Baseball Association, Inc. is the level within Stoughton Baseball that provides summer baseball opportunities for student athletes in grades 7 through 12 (grade of the player in the spring of the year prior to the summer).

    The purpose of the SABA is to support, teach, benefit, promote, organize, manage and develop summer baseball programs in the Stoughton area, and to develop and enhance their overall baseball skills and to support the development of baseball players for the Stoughton High School baseball program.

  • Little Viking Basketball - Kindergarten

    Our Little Viking Basketball Program is designed to develop and improve each player's skills, getting them ready for games within our in-house league.     The Stoughton Recreation Department is teaming up with the recreation departments of Cottage Grove, Monona, McFarland, DeForest, and Maple Bluff to offer a 4-on-4 travel basketball league for children in 3rd and 4th grade! Unlike traditional 5-on-5 games, this program will feature 4-on-4 matchups to provide more playing time and opportunities for skill development. The focus will be on teaching the FUNdamentals of basketball while emphasizing good sportsmanship and teamwork.

    • Practices: Twice a week 6p-7p on either M/W or T/H

    • Games: Saturday mornings

    • Jerseys: Each player will receive a reversible jersey

  • Little Gridders Flag Football - Pre-K

    This program will introduce four and five year olds to the sport of football. Coach Scott will run parent/child pairs through a variety of fun games and activities that teach movement skills (dodging, running, throwing) to future gridiron stars. Each week will consist of a practice and a fun scrimmage. Soft, Nerf style footballs will be used. T-shirt included. This is a perfect program for kids who will be playing Kindergarten Flag Football this coming Fall.

    Future Vikings Football Camp - Grades 2-5

    Attention all youth football players (flag & tackle)!! Come join Stoughton's Head Football Coach Jason Becker, the High School Football Coaching Staff, and High School Football Players for an 8 day camp this summer.

    Athletes entering grades 2-5 will learn the basic offensive fundamentals of blocking, throwing, catching and running with the football. On defense they will learn the basic techniques from defensive line to linebackers to defensive backs.

    Future Vikings Football Camp - Grades 6-8

    Attention all youth football players (flag & tackle)!! Come join Stoughton's Head Football Coach Jason Becker, the High School Football Coaching Staff, and High School Football Players for an 8-day camp this summer.

    Athletes entering grades 6-8 will build off of the younger group and also learn the fundamentals of each position as well as learn the high school's base offense and defense.

    NFL Youth Flag Football - Grades K-3 (non-travel)

    Practices start mid-August. Games start in September.

    Practices will be during a weeknight and determined by the coach. Games will be on Saturday mornings/early afternoons.

    This program provides young players a fun and exciting opportunity to engage in non-contact, continuous action while learning lessons in teamwork. This is a great way to introduce your child to the basic fundamentals of football. Teams will have one practice during the week with practice plans provided by the Recreation Department. Each player will receive a NFL Flag Football jersey and a set of flags that they keep.

    Practices will be on a weeknight determined by the coach. Games will be on Saturday mornings/early afternoons.

    This program provides young players a fun and exciting opportunity to engage in non-contact, continuous action while learning lessons in teamwork. This is a great way to introduce your child to the basic fundamentals of football. Teams will have one practice during the week with practice plans provided by the Recreation Department. Each player will receive a NFL Flag Football jersey and a set of flags that they keep.

    Grades 4th and 5th and 6th-8th programs are travel leagues. Other communities involved with the leagues are Cross Plains, Fitchburg, Verona, Oregon and Mount Horeb. Teams for these age groups typically practice 1-2 times per week.

  • Stoughton Parks and Recreation Partners with Coachman’s Golf Resort for Summer Golf Program!

    Junior Golf Clinic - Ages 5-8

    Golfers will spend 5 weeks with me learning the game of golf through games on the putting green and swinging on the range! Your child will walk away with not only knowledge of the game of golf but with excitement to continue to want to play!

    Junior Golf Clinic - Ages 9-11

    In the class golfers will learn about the different parts of a golf club and the different types of clubs. Golfers will learn through games on the putting green and hitting on the range!

    Junior Golf Clinic - Ages 12 and up

    In this class golfers will learn through games and be prepared to play on the golf course in league if they so choose. Most importantly, I want them to enjoy the game while learning!

    Junior Golf League Ages 9-12

    In this class the golfers will play as many holes as they can in an hour from their tee time! Your child will start playing from 50 yards the first week and try to get a 4 or better on every hole. If they accomplish that, they will move back to 75 yards the following week and so on. This is a great way to track golfers progress and celebrate their success!

    Junior Golf League Ages 13 & Older

    In this class golfers will play 9 holes walking and carrying their own bags. Golfers will start playing from 50 yards and try to score a 36 or better to move back to 75 yards, 100 yards, then to 125 yards! Golfers will not have an adult present on the course with their group at all times!

  • Family Pickleball

    Join our Family Pickleball Introduction Clinic! Perfect for beginner family pickleballers with kids aged 7+, this program provides expert guidance, hands-on practice, and friendly competition. Bond as a family while mastering the game's basics, including rules, hitting, and scoring. Don't miss this chance to learn and grow together!

    Price is per family (max of 4 participants/family)

    We do request that you bring your own pickleball paddle as we will only have a few available to use.

  • Devil’s Head - High School Only

    The Stoughton Recreation Department and Oregon High School are teaming up to offer 9th through 12th graders the opportunity to ski or snowboard with their friends at group rates.

    Our trip is to Devil's Head Resort. Bus Pickup/Dropoff is at Oregon High School. We will leave around 4:15pm and return around 11pm. Participants must have their own transportation to and from Oregon.

    Trip - Tyrol Basin - High School Only

    The Stoughton Recreation Department and Oregon High School are teaming up to offer 9th through 12th graders the opportunity to ski or snowboard with their friends at group rates.

    This trip is to Tyrol Basin. Bus Pickup/Dropoff is at Oregon High School. We will leave around 4:15pm and return around 11pm. Participants must have their own transportation to and from Oregon.

    Trip - Tyrol Basin - Middle School & High School

    We are headed to Tyrol! Bus Pickup/Dropoff is at River Bluff Middle School. We will leave at 4:00pm and return at 11pm.

    There are 4 fee options. $25 for the Bus Ride is always charged, $30 for Lift Ticket, $25 for Rentals and $5 for Lessons.

    Stoughton Area Youth Soccer Association (SAYSA):

    The Stoughton Area Youth Soccer Association (SAYSA) is committed to providing opportunities for youth of all skill levels to learn, develop, and play the game of soccer in a fun and safe environment.

    SAYSA serves the interests of youth soccer in the Stoughton, Wisconsin community and surrounding areas. SAYSA is built on a foundation of respect. In addition, SAYSA is committed to

    -Developing players and coaches in personal, physical, and mental growth;

    -Creating and fostering a positive environment through teamwork and good sportsmanship;

    -Building and maintaining strong community relationships; and

    -Promoting effective and timely communication.

    SAYSA also supports the Stoughton High School soccer teams by developing young players (kindergarten through 8th grade) to prepare for their high school soccer career.

  • Learn to Play Softball League - Grades K-2

    Our youth softball program is where fun meets fundamentals, fostering a love of sports while developing athletic skills. Sundays offer a mix of practices and informal games, featuring either coach pitch or t-ball depending on player ability levels. At practice, players will focus on FUNdamentals such as proper overhand throwing motion. With a wide range of ages and skill levels, our program will group children based on their abilities to ensure they are appropriately challenged. Players must bring their own gloves, but all other equipment is provided.

    We're seeking volunteer coaches to help lead and support our young athletes. Join us in creating an inspiring, supportive and fun environment that will help your players thrive!

    Softball for ages 5-16:

    Stoughton Youth Softball (SYA):

    Stoughton Youth Softball League provides Stoughton area youth with the opportunity to compete in softball leagues and to challenge them to perform to the best of their abilities. SYS provides league play for ASA Class B teams in support of improving the Stoughton High School softball program.

  • Tennis Lessons - Ages 3-6

    Ages 3-6: Using Quick Start approach, children are taught using balls that bounce lower and move slower than regular tennis balls so they are easier to hit.

    Tennis Lessons - Ages 7-8

    Ages 7-8: Children will further develop tennis strokes, ground strokes, volleys, and the serve. Footwork drills and point playing will be introduced.

    Tennis Lessons - Ages 9-12

    Ages 9-12: Students will refine stroke mechanics with major emphasis on improving the consistency and accuracy of ground strokes, volleys, overheads, and learning the rules of the game.

    Tennis Lessons - Ages 13-18

    Ages 13-18: This group is designed for the high school players and/or advanced middle schoolers. Drills become more intense and focused on strategy, point play for singles and doubles.

    Instructor Spotlight: Barry Hankel

    Barry Hankel will be overseeing our tennis lessons. Barry is a former three-time all-conference Division 1 tennis player at UW-Green Bay, and he has taught tennis for 14 years. He was Director of Tennis at Green Bay Tennis Center for three years. He has had well over a hundred students qualify for the state tournament during his teaching days and has taught many players that have gone on to play at all levels of college tennis.

    Viking Youth Tennis Clinic

    It doesn't matter if you are new to the game of tennis or have taken lessons before, this is the program for you! Amy Kahl, will be running this clinic. It will consist of stroke work, drills and games. Join in the fun!!!

Junior Viking Track Club is the only program of its kind in the City of Stoughton. Under the instruction of the SHS Track and Field staff and Varsity track and field athletes, your child will have fun learning the fundamental skills of track and field.

    Class will meet at the concession stand entrance area at Collins Field.
